TIDLÖS CUTLERY DESIGN WITH THE ROOTS IN SUSTAINABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP
In 2016 we celebrate på Gense (Gustav Eriksson NySilverfabrik in Eskilstuna) celebrated its 160th anniversary. The founder, Gustav Eriksson, received his master's certificate as a bricklayer on August 4, 1856, and for a while tiled stove doors were his specialty. 1885 övertog
Gustav's son, Axel Eriksson, took over the movement and they took då the decisive decision to build
på the range of cutlery and crockery in nickel silver. During this period, production has also
included products such as coffee and tea sets, bread baskets, trays, candlesticks and table chairs.
Nowadays, we manufacture and sell, in addition to silver cutlery, nickel silver and stainless steel
among other things spice grinders, cast iron products and kitchen knives.
In 1897 Gense was registered with the Royal Patent and Registration Office with serial number 4.
This AB Gense is Sweden's oldest registered limited company. Through the decades
we have grown and today Gense is one of the Nordic countries' leading manufacturers of silver and stainless cutlery,
gift items, cookware in cast iron and serving items for large groups. k. The head office and
production are still in Eskilstuna, where everything started 160 years ago.
Since the beginning, Gense has had a strong focus on quality and artisanal manufacturing,
which still sets the tone for the production. Gense is a company at the forefront and we have
ä since the 1920s collaborated with leading designers and designers to produce
stylish and timeless stainless steel products, from most cutlery, for home and housewares. This made us
the first company in Sweden, and one of the first in the world, to work with this type
of collaborations for household products in stainless steel.
Thanks to our well-thought-out combination of quality thinking and innovation, Gense has been
setting the standard for contemporary Scandinavian cutlery design. The range of
stainless cutlery includes several modern classics and some of our best-known
collaborations in that category include the multi-award-winning Monica Förster, the
first strong Italian designer Paola Navone and Folke Arström, who was also Gense's
artistic director from 1940 and 20 years from now.
Silver cutlery defines a different existing product group for Gense and it is perhaps for who

Gense's 160th anniversary will be celebrated during the month of October.
